Greenshot is an open source software that is able to take print screens or screenshots of a custom area of  computer screen, capture entire window, full screen or previous region that has been captured.

It supports keyboard shortcuts for each type of capture (full screen, window, region ..) and users are able to launch desired action with a simple keyboard combination. Can capture or not mouse pointer, delay capture in milliseconds, save a default location where images will be saved, set a desired filename pattern and choose the image format (PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF).

Captured image can be saved automatically to a specific location or users can choose on the fly from multiple options: save as file to computer, copy to clipboard, print it directly, send in email attachment, send to PowerPoint, Word or Excel, upload to Imgur (popular image hosting service) and more.

One important feature is the ability to edit screenshot in the included image editor that contains a lot of options such as draw shapes (rectangle, ellipse), draw line, arrows (set size, border, shadow), free hand draw, add text and customize it (choose font, size, alignment), highlight, crop, obfuscate parts from image or rotate. Can apply effects such as drop shadow, grayscale, invert etc.

Greenshot is great to take screen captures, edit them and use in tutorials, presentations or simply to share with co-workers or friends.
