Audacity is an audio editor and recorder that can be used to perform live soundtrack recordings using a microphone or USB/Firewire devices, mix audio tracks, edit sound files and more.
The program can import various audio file formats including MP3, WAV, AIFF, OGG, FLAC, AC3, WMA and others, perform multi-channels recordings and basic editing operations such as cut, copy, paste and delete.
You can mix several sound files and/or recordings together and apply audio effects on multiple music tracks simultaneously, including amplify, echo, fade in/out, reverb, delay, notch filter, tremolo, noise removal and others.
Other features include a contrast analyzer, a Plot Spectrum to analyze frequencies and a spectrogram view mode. Additional analysis and effects can be obtained via plug-ins.
